Film Installation

To be presented as part of Zoe Grigoris’ solo exhibition Social Medea at Jam Factory Gallery 2, as part of SALA 2021. Directed, Filmed, Edited and Sound by Steph Daughtry.

Exhibition Launch, 29th July 2021

“Stephanie Daughtry’s accompanying film installation has been created especially to complement the themes of Social Medea. The film’s impressionistic style takes cues from the soft, Romantic colour palette of Grigoris’ work, mirroring floral motifs and a curious attention to fine detail. Filmed in the Adelaide Hills during the final days of a 2020 Covid-19 summer, the hand-held imagery plays with perspective and focus to evoke a dream-like landscape, and the slippery nostalgia of memory. Edited into a square as a reference to Grigoris’ sculptural works - as well as a nod to social media tropes - the piece is designed to fit effortlessly within the exhibition as though a moving still life painting.”
